Just found Swine Flu heaven also called DefCon 17

After being at DefCon 17 for a couple of minutes I got alerted by one geek not looking very healthy (maybe as a result from the parties last night) but more importantly sneezing all the time. Obviously he caught a cold somewhere. I hope for all of us that it is really only a cold and not a swine flu A H1N1 infection.

I don’t know exactly how many people are participating this year but all the fancy primary batches are gone. Everyone who has ever been at the Riviera hotel during a DefCon event knows how crowded the hallways and the conference rooms are. One of the guests there just posted a Twitter meesage which goes like this "BTW, moving around at #defcon is brutal. Why don't they open more doors to the rooms?" Hey, it’s a good conference and the people are eager to learn!

In the course of the following minutes I saw at least two more people in similar conditions. A conference like this with the amount of people present and the “cleanness” at such an event create a source for all kind of pool infections. I don’t won’t to scare people but I want to encourage everyone there to ensure significant hand hygiene to reduce at least infections from other visitors. With such a simple measure everyone can reduce the risk of high cross infection rates.

It is a ptiy..

A great pity it didn't happen last week. An H1N1 outbreak at Blackhat might have made the internet a safer place for a week or so. :-)
